Projects CIC

Supporting communities across Teesside to flourish.

About Us

FreeStyle Community Projects CIC is a community development organisation. Our evolutionary purpose is to work with individuals and communities seeking transformation in Teesside. We search for connection to grow positive, holistic community.

We sense that a better world is waiting for us, so we experiment with creative spaces and bold actions to realise it. FreeStyle is an ecosystem of many projects. Each community-led and with their own relationships to the rest of the organisation.

Meet the team

Athene Wherrett

I host our community venue, The Exchange and co-host various projects from there such as the Public Living Rooms. I also write most of our policies. When not writing policies.

I may be found walking my dog, building a massive space empire or smashing weights out at the gym - not all at the same time.

Emily Treadgold

I love creating event spaces and opportunities for people to meet up and collaborate/ support/ learn from each other and share resources.

I love to look after all my house plants and making crafts with my hands like knitting, macrame and origami.

Andy Falconer

A world of connection and human flourishing is within our grasp. I love experimenting with interesting ways of making space for this in Teesside. You'll find me playing with big ideas, tinkering with community transformation and building bridges between it all.

To rest my brain I find beauty in nature.

Sarah Falconer

I love all things creative and can calm, excite or inspire people of all ages with art and crafts! My passion is to show the benefits of creativity for wellbeing.

I'm a messy person with a million ideas but I also love paperwork, record keeping and doing things properly.

Bobbie Bailey

I consult on various ways to incorporate placemaking principles across Freestyle’s projects that help to regenerate underused and unloved public spaces by transforming them in to unique places communities can be proud of.

When i'm not imagining up new worlds you'll find me wandering the streets looking for the next hidden Teesside gem.
